I don't think so I have ever tried this and I don't know why because is the simplest recipe ever. The most satisfying, zero efforts dessert that celebrates mango and in Maharashtra this is a regular. Like a everyday thing and I was not even aware of this marvelous wonder. Pity on my part. But on the bright side, I know this delicious and easiest Mango shrikhand recipe and I am making this for dessert regularly now throughout the mango season.
You are supposed to use thick hung curd but I am using thick Greek Yogurt here so I have skipped the hanging part of it but if you want a thicker, richer texture (not that it is less tasty in any way if you do not hang the yogurt first) you can hang the Greek yogurt as well for a few hours in a refrigerator and then use it.
Just a few simple, regular ingredients and you have the creamiest dessert. I am not using saffron strands also because I wanted to try this dessert with just cardamon and keep it super simple and make it a go-to dessert recipe option this summer. The creaminess from yogurt, the sweetness of honey and the mangoness of mangos, (yes, I invented that word) just super. Garnishing this beauty is totally optional but I am not big on sharing beautiful looking recipes at tine so I thought I should make an effort because the recipe in itself is super easy. A little decent looking recipe won't hurt right.
Also, you can totally replace honey with powdered white sugar. But I wanted to use honey for my recipe. Honey not only elevates the sweetness of mangoes bit it also gives it a pleasing taste. Powdered white sugar to make shrikhand recipe is totally cool as well.
I recently came across this another super tempting Maharashtrian drink, Piyush that is a mix of shrikhand and lassi. I am dying to try that and share the recipe with you guys super soon. And I am adding a twist to it and am making a mango piyush recipe because why not it's mango season.

Mango Shrikhand or Amrakhand are one and the same thing. To my surprise this dessert is also eaten with poori and chaaptis. Although, I have only eaten it as a dessert and not with roti or anything, but I am sure all those who love Amrakhand and are addicted to it enjoy it with roti or poori as well. Give it a try yourself and see how the combination is.
INGREDIENTS -
1 mango, chopped
90 gm Greek Yogurt
1 tsp green cardamom powder
Honey, as per taste
For garnish
Mango puree with honey
Chopped almonds
A pinch of green cardamom powder
METHOD -
1. In a bowl take Greek yogurt whisk it a little and set aside.
2. Now puree the chopped mango with honey to taste. Adjust the sweetness according to your liking, it depends on how sweet your mango is. Blend it to a fine puree.
3. Now mix this sweetened mango puree with the whisked Greek yogurt. Leave some puree behind (about a few tbsp) for garnish.
4. Add green cardamom powder to the mix. Whisk and pour in separate dessert bowl.
5. Garnish with mango puree, chopped almonds and dust a little green cardamom powder and chill a little before indulging.
Note - The original shrikhand recipe also has saffron in it. But I am choosing to keep the recipe super simple. Also, if your curd/Greek yogurt has even a little water in it then hang it first for a couple of hours in refrigerator before using it.
