Pickled red onions | Glutenfrewwhisk

Sirke wale pyaaz or pickled onions are a must in every North Indian family and if these are not served in a restaurant with green chutney then the reviews automatically go down. I mean like really. Many will relate as while waiting for the order we start to much on these onions and chutney if not given complimentary papad while waiting.

I personally am not a fan of onions, but I love them eating occasionally specially in Gurudwara when it is served with langar. It's one of the best things to have with rest of the meal. I have used this same recipe of pickled onions in my salads, and I have mentioned in many that the taste is an add on because of the flavors that are there in my pickled onion recipe.

If you try my recipe of pickled red onion rings, I am sure you will agree that my recipe is way better than the restaurant style sirke wale pyaaz recipe. Because I use apple cider vinegar, fennel seeds and nigella seeds that not only enhance the beauty of sirke wale pyaaz but make them so addictive that you will want them with every meal. Even if you use small whole red onions, plain white vinegar, sugar, salt and let it rest for a day then also you will get amazing restaurant style pickled red onions.

We can use fermented food so often in our daily meals just by making some little efforts and thinking before feeding anything to our body. If you are even a little mindful your gut will thank you. I know it's easier said than done and I to eat sugar a lot, knowingly but improving and being mindful is necessary. Pickles, sirke wale pyaaz, chaas or buttermilk, dosa, idli all these fermented batters are who our Indian cuisine has given us. So, make the most of these amazing, fermented food and add then to your diet to get the most of them.

Talking about some dips and chutneys and not mentioning Uttarakhand's special bhang a namak will be unfair. This recipe is too delicious to miss. It is amazing for your gut, provides warmth to you in winter season and has many health benefits. Talking about sides in Indian meal, this bhang ki chutney is a staple and is eaten with almost everything.

Salad where I have used my pickled onions are crispy potato salad which is for all potato lovers. Quinoa salad with chickpea also known as Jennifer Aniston's salad on the social media because apparently Jennifer ate this salad on repeat while shooting F.R.I.E.N.D.S back in the day. And obviously, the most loved salad black chickpea salad with yogurt, it has lettuce, pickled onions, roasted potatoes and yogurt with tangy chaat masala making this salad a black chickpea chaat.

For glass jars with lid check this amazing product that is useful in storing jams, pickles and other masalas in your kitchen. Sitovi airtight mataki glass jars are really useful product to have to make these pickled onions in them and store them directly.

I love chopping boards especially if they are round, I got mine from westside store but this round mango wood chopping board from theheartwill is also pretty and useful with the perfectly right dimensions.

This is one of the easiest recipes that you will find me making so if you are onion lover and love eating raw onions with your meals then try these pickled red onions. You will be addicted to the flavors and keep a stock of these in your refrigerator. These are that good.
