I like to make my granola without any sweetener but with a little salt. It helps me keep a check on my sugar intake as I do not like eating sweet breakfast. As much as this sounds fascinating and super tempting, it is not healthy and I avoid it completely. Occasional slips, yes, more than I can keep a check on but I am only human. If you make the granola prior it makes things easier in the morning else if you have all the sweet time and look to make your breakfast fresh and enjoy it, you should try my apple pie oats breakfast recipe. You can replace salted caramel with honey or maple syrup or even chocolate syrup or any other fruit compote of your liking. You can check the recipe for black grape compote as well.
This recipe of homemade basic oat granola is flexible, and you can add whatever seeds, nuts, berries or fat that you want to add. You can do the variations every time you bake this granola as home. I have used cranberries and black raisins in berries. For nuts I have used almonds and pistachios and for seeds I have used melon, muskmelon, pumpkin, sunflower, and flax seeds and for fat I have used desiccated coconut and ghee. This basic oat granola recipe is healthy and super flexible.
With so many options to buy from I am using Nutty Gritties dried cranberries and Nutty Gritties black raisins, seedless and they are soft, delicious, and my go-to. For oats I am using yogabar rolled oats as they are gluten-free, non-GMO and plain.

A few pinches of salt
Half a cup desiccated coconut
Cranberries
Black raisins
Pumpkin seeds
Sunflower seeds
Melon seeds
Watermelon seeds
Almonds
Pistachios
Flax seeds
1.5 tsp cinnamon powder
For breakfast granola bowl and garnish
A Tulsi spring
1 Peach, Sliced in half thin moons
Salted caramel
Greek Yogurt
METHOD -
1. Grease a baking tray with ghee and preheat the oven at 170 degrees Celsius.
2. In the greased baking tray add all the oats granola ingredients except for desiccated coconut, black raisins and cranberries. Mix them all well and bake it at 170 degrees Celsius for 20 around 20 minutes.
3. As soon as you switch off the oven, add desiccated coconut, dried cranberries and black raisins over the baked granola and close the oven door.
4. After 10-12 minutes take the tray out and let everything cool on a cooling rack. Once cooled completely store this homemade oat granola in an airtight jar.
5. To enjoy the yogurt granola breakfast. Take Greek yogurt in the serving dish or overnight oats jar. Add your favorite, seasonal fruit. I am using peach. Put in the oat granola on the side and spread a generous amount of salted caramel on top and indulge.
Note - Do not add the desiccated coconut, dried cranberries and black raisins or any other dried fruit or berries prior while baking as it will burn. Read point 2nd and 3rd for how to add them and when to add them.
I haven't mentioned the quantity of seeds and nuts, and you can add them as you like. Don't overdo anything.
