Gopalkala or Dahi Poha recipe | Glutenfreewhisk
This recipe is really very simple; it is like making poha but simpler and way tastier. I like simple flavors without over-the-top ingredients and spices, and this recipe is my kind of recipe. Since it is Janmashtami festival I have decided to post two Janmashtami special recipe, and this one is really special. One because I love poha, and second this gopalkala recipe or dahi poha is a no cook recipe and is very quick to fix.
I have used raisins for the garnish, but this is completely optional because the original gopalkala recipe does not uses it, but I love to add something chewy and sweet in my poha recipe as I have mentioned in my bajra poha recipe. I use dried cranberries or raisins or anything sweet and chewy thus I have added raisins as garnish in this gopalkala recipe as well. Again, with my coconut obsession, I think the best thing in this recipe is the fresh coconut combination with ghee and curd.
Another Janmashtami special recipe that I have shared is an absolute new favorite dhaniya panjiri. I could have never imagined or even come close to the idea of using dhaniya, a savory ingredient to make a sweet panjiri. And trust me it tastes divine. I am making Janmashtami special recipes for the first time myself and it has made me realize that I was missing out some great recipes. So, if you don't celebrate the festival, I will recommend that you make these Janmashtami recipes because these are worth the try and you will be addicted to them like I am.
This Maharashtrian no cook dahi poha recipe is made as a prasad but can be eaten on a regular basis for breakfast as well. I personally eat poha every week. And now that I have this gopalkala recipe I will have this simple no cooking version of dahi poha with Greek yogurt from now on, on repeat.
I forgot to add grated ginger while preparing the tempering and had to make 2 ghee tempering which made this recipe even better as more the ghee more the taste. I forgot to do mise en place, so I forgot to add ginger. But remembered it immediately so I added more ghee to the same pan and roasted the grated ginger lightly. The simplest and flavor packed tempering is like a cherry on the top. Every ingredient plays a really important role in this recipe as the amalgamation of cucumber, curd, coconut, ghee, jeera, coriander and raisins just work the magic in your mouth.
If flattened rice poha is your favorite breakfast or go to breakfast, then this quick version no cook dahi poha will be fulfilling and satisfying for you as well.
I never knew Janmashtami festival recipes are so good and tasty. I have shared two prasad recipe this Janmashtami season and for next year there are more fun recipes to come that are simple yet so tasty. I am making both dhaniya panjiri and gopalkala on repeat from now on because these prasads are really amazing creation and deserves all the love.
Happy Janmashtami!
