Refreshing raw mango drinks | Glutenfreewhisk

Summer means mango season and it means raw mango hanging from mango trees everywhere and stealing a few. As a kid or even as an adult we all have stolen Ambi. Right? If you have not, you can now. It's never too late. Everyone has their own memories and during mango season eating mango in itself has some experiences, memories and favorites that are personal to everyone. My mother loves this raw mango cooler that is made with cream, and she can drink a lot but due to her health so can't have it a lot but she tries every year it is made.

I am sharing two raw mango drinks are super refreshing. One is with mint, cream and sugar, the cream based raw mango mint drink. And the other, Raw mango mint cooler, also known as Aam panna is with mint, tangy spice and salt and jaggery. These are best for a hot summer day and refreshing that you will make big jars of it and keep it to sip every now and then. I decided to share both the drinks together because both are of raw mango and both require the same process of roasting the mangoes first. Pro tip, if you want you can remove the skin of the mango for even silkier texture. But I don't mind the skin, so I have kept it. In the past, in 2020 I have shared the cream version of the recipe as raw mango cooler for summers where I have removed the skin, you can refer to that recipe as well. This is only for the cream based raw mango mint drink.

Summer drinks to beat the heat and with raw mango are just perfect to enjoy the summer season at its best. These are naturally cooling, tasty and easy to fix. If you do not have a oven to roast the raw mango, you can do that over a gas stove also, for that take a clean raw mango and place it over a grill or mesh to roast it directly over the flame. Allow it to cool and peel of the skin later. Or you can do it in a pan. The process remains the same as you do it while roasting. Take oil, grease the pan spread the chopped mangoes, sprinkle the salt and allow them to cook. The goal here is to cook the mango before making a drink out of it.

If you are looking for a mesh, then you can order is online Aadhik roast mesh is multi-purpose and with a wooden handle for safety.

This is episode 17 in my summer recipe series and this refreshing summer drink with mango in two ways is a must try. I bet you will be confused as to which one is your more preferred one. For more amazing summer drink recipes that I have shared in my summer recipe series, you can check the recipe for raw mango kanji with ginger. It is an absolute refreshing fermented drink that is perfect for this hot weather. The green chili in this is really the best thing. Another fermented drink from South India is this creamy, probiotic Ragi Ambali, that celebrates ragi millet and the curd. I have used Greek yogurt instead of curd and that luscious, creamy texture of this drink with the rawness from onions is my favorite.

Summer drinks are more than chaas/buttermilk or lemonade. There are so many ingredients and flavors that you can add to your summer drinks to make them more refreshing and even healthy. So do try these amazing summer recipes from my summer food series that celebrates almost all summer fruits with meal ideas and healthy dessert options.
